How to Test Your Washing Machine Capacitor?

Typically, your washing machine has two capacitors that are connected with the dynamo motors - one for the wash dynamo motor and the other for the drying dynamo motor. The number, size, and magnitude of these capacitors are different on each type of washer.

In order to check a washer's capacitor, you'll need to remove the back cover and locate the start or run capacitor. Once you have located it, it's easy to use a multimeter to test the capacitor. Make sure to set the multimeter to ohm x 1 settings, and put both ends of the multitester probe on both terminals. If the needle moves to the right and stays there, or if it doesn't move at all, it's time to replace your washing machine capacitor.
